剧情梗概：
六扇门主事曹雄（张铁林饰）召开武林大会欲统领江湖。各大门派赶赴大会，点苍派师徒一阳子（刘松仁饰）和徒弟马君武（梁朝伟饰）亦于其中。师徒两人遇上天龙帮突袭，幸得白云飞（梅艳芳饰）相救。其后白更答应往桃花潭捕捉千年灵龟，以解众掌门之毒。几经辛苦，3人终捕得灵龟，岂料又被蓝小蝶（关芝琳饰）利用琴音夺走，扬言要白亲自去取回。此时，由于曹雄误传归元秘籍为白云飞所有，于是追杀白云飞的武林行动也展开了。而曹雄学得绝世武功，无人能敌......点苍掌门一阳子携弟子马君武去九州府参加武林大会，途中君武结识了骑鹤美女白云飞，双方互生情愫。武林大会由官方主办，试图给武林中各门派划出势力范围。天龙帮为新兴门派，势力已凌驾于六大派之上，帮主苏鹏海飞扬跋扈，大会主持人燕云十八骑之首曹雄为此深感头痛。天龙帮用蝙蝠阵对付六大派，虽被白云飞的仙鹤击败，但各派均有多人受伤。马君武与白云飞为救众人，去找万年火龟。激战后，火龟胆却被半路杀出的的蓝小蝶抢走。二人追至海上大船，被蓝小蝶告知，白云飞本是前朝公主。战乱之际，蓝小蝶之父为救白，抛妻弃女十八年。蓝小蝶之母含恨死去，小蝶因此要找负心的父亲复仇。蓝白二人交手，两败皆伤，马君武取走龟胆，白随之离去。受伤众人怀疑曹雄勾结天龙帮，将其一众人马拘禁。一阳子不忍，偷偷将其放走。孰知曹雄脱困后，立即调动大队人马，欲镇压六大派，并离间一阳子与众人。白云飞与马君武赶回，但由于白受伤，无法运功用龟胆替众人解毒。苏鹏海挟持了蓝小蝶，率众杀往武林大会。众人不敌，幸蓝海萍赶到，击退苏，并救走蓝小蝶。白云飞留给马君武归元密笈，让其练成替众人治病，反令马与一阳子遭到曹雄等人的追杀。马君武与一阳子各带半部密笈逃走，曹雄抢到半部，但也跌落山崖。山崖下，曹雄遇一武林怪人，受尽折魔，但也因此练成奇功。曹被逼吞下半部密笈，反功力大增。曹雄杀掉怪人，重返武林大会，先后杀死苏鹏海兄妹与蓝海萍。蓝小蝶亦中了曹雄之春药，逃出后与马君武发生关系。一阳子将另外半部密笈与蓝合葬，大雨中，密笈溶化，渗入蓝体内，蓝海萍死而复生。蓝小蝶与白云飞相约决斗，曹雄中途杀出，欲将其一网打尽。蓝海萍、一阳子、马君武赶到助战，五人联手仍不是曹雄对手。白云飞用笛子将曹雄吹胀，二人一起消失苍穹之中。众人相信白不会死，誓要将其找回。
