All these are portraits of life, all reflect the uselessness and desolation of life. This film is considered by the Italian comment community as one of the best films in the 1970s. Lieutenant Giovani Drogo is assigned to the old Bastiani Border Fortress where he extened attack by nomadic fearsomeome tartars.
